Bajaj Transforming Its Bikes Into CNG Bikes Bajaj appears to be responding to consumer demand by developing CNG-powered motorcycles, which could offer a more economical and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional petrol models. Reports suggest that within the next 6 months to a year, Bajaj may introduce its first CNG bike, possibly based on the Platina platform. This move reflects a growing interest in diversifying fuel options in the motorcycle market, aligning with sustainability goals and cost-saving measures.
According to media reports, Bajaj has the potential to manufacture 200,000 CNG bikes annually in the future. Additionally, the company intends to introduce motorcycles powered by LPG and ethanol-blended fuel following the launch of CNG models. This suggests that in the foreseeable future, Bajaj’s two-wheelers, as well as small four-wheeled vehicles, may offer various fuel and gas options. This initiative aligns with the global trend of providing eco-friendly mobility solutions, which entails a shift away from vehicles reliant solely on petrol and diesel.
Recent media reports suggest that Bajaj is nearing completion of the manufacturing process for a dual-fuel bike, codenamed Bruzer E101, which operates on both CNG and petrol. There’s speculation that a prototype of this innovative bike could be unveiled in the coming months. Bajaj’s foray into CNG-powered motorcycles is anticipated to debut in the 110 cc segment, with initial production slated for its Aurangabad factory.
Plans are also underway to potentially extend production to the Pantnagar facility. In a recent interview with a media channel, Rajeev Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, hinted at the company’s intentions to launch the CNG bike within the 100-110 cc segment in the near future. Furthermore, he advocated for a reduction in the GST rate applicable to CNG vehicles, aligning with similar appeals made by Maruti Suzuki to the government. This move underscores the industry’s collective push towards sustainable mobility solutions and highlights the growing importance of alternative fuel options in the automotive sector.
